What each desk does — and what makes the stack stronger
steakOS is organized into desks (working areas): sales, buying, shop floor, delivery, after-sales, money, people, and more.
Below is what you can actually do in each area today, then how
integrations, AI (computer helpers), Bitcoin, and
Nostr (an open messaging network) help performance and add value —
without forcing a cloud landlord or a token bill to open the shop.
Size tiers (Bronze → Silver → Gold) only mean starter → growing → large.
Starter packs already cover the commercial desks most shops need first; some deeper desks light up as you grow.
Depth claims match what ships — helpers suggest; people approve money moves.
Desks (modules) in plain language
Think of a carpenter’s office, a kitchen manager’s clipboard, and a farm stock room —
each desk is one of those jobs, sharing the same company data on your machine.
Sales desk
Win work and turn it into orders people can deliver and invoice.
Customers and contacts in one place
Quotes → confirmed sales orders
Tax / VAT (sales tax) fields for your region where configured
Hand-off into delivery, production, or finance without retyping the deal
Buyers desk (purchasing / supply)
Keep vendors, catalogue items, and purchase orders tidy.
Vendors, products, and buyable services
Purchase orders → confirm → receive into stock
Links into finance payables when a PO is confirmed
Optional create-from-sales when a job needs materials
Shop floor
Make or assemble what you sell, with a light quality gate before stock moves.
Production orders (including from sales when that path fits)
Complete → quality lot → stock after a pass
Manual lots for on-hand checks
On-hand stock moves you can audit
Delivery desk
Schedule and finish service-style work for customers.
Shared customer master with sales
Service catalogue and resources (people / capacity)
Service orders: schedule → start → complete
Assign employees from HR when people records exist
After-sales desk
Handle the messy but real part: questions, warranties, returns.
Inquiries and cases
Warranties and claims → finance credit when approved
Returns (RMA) with optional stock receipt via supply
Service levels so response promises stay visible
Finance desk
Money in, money out, and a ledger that matches the desks.
Invoices and receivables
Payments (bank money and optional Bitcoin rails)
Treasury view, payables, budgets, tax screens
Payroll periods posted from HR; posting rules admins can tune
Control screens for a sober Monday morning check
People desk (HR)
Who works here, time logged, and payroll hand-off — with privacy in mind.
People files (sensitive names handled carefully)
Recruiting candidates → hire into a file
Time entries
Payroll periods → post to finance
Light plans, goals, policies, and parties without a full file
Capability desk
Improve how the company works — projects, processes, quality, change, knowledge.
Projects and process visibility
Quality records
Change requests (business change — separate from IT system change)
Knowledge notes your team can reuse
Digital / IT desk
Your own systems inventory and IT change trail — not a rented ITSM suite.
Systems / data / solutions register (light)
IT change records you can audit
Internal IT support path from Help
Agents desk
Computer co-workers that propose work — humans still approve the risky bits.
Agent list and “hives” (groups of helpers)
Human-in-the-loop queue: proposal → you approve
Memory / notes helpers may use within your rules
Tokens and allow-lists so helpers are not “admin because AI”
Strategy, development & assets (lighter desks)
Registers to grow into — honest entry-level depth, not a full enterprise suite on day one.
Strategy — light registers for direction
Development — product / offering development projects (separate from capability projects)
Assets — physical asset register (separate from the IT systems list)
Company, settings & Help
The glue: who may sign in, how the company is set up, and in-app guidance.
Company profile and setup wizard
Users, roles, language (English, German, Spanish)
Import / catalogues where offered
In-app Help and a product tour — free with the software
Action-NOW style “what needs me” pulse on the home dashboard
Integrations — fewer islands, faster Mondays
Most shops already have a bank, a messaging habit, a tax advisor, or an old spreadsheet.
Integrations mean steakOS can connect to tools and partners you already trust
instead of forcing every number through a rented mega-app.
Inside the product
Desks already hand work to each other: sales → delivery or shop floor → stock;
purchase confirm → payable; after-sales credit → finance; HR payroll → finance.
That cuts retyping and Monday surprises.
Outside systems
Payment processors, messaging channels, accounting hand-offs, and imports
plug in where productized — so your tax advisor or bookkeeper can see structured extracts,
not a pile of screenshots. Deeper wiring is also offered as optional help on
steakOS.ai.
Performance & value
Less double entry → fewer errors → faster close of the day.
You keep the system of record on hardware you control, while still talking to the outside world on purpose.
AI — helpers that see real desks (and may stay local)
AI here means computer helpers that draft text and suggestions.
steakOS was designed with helpers next to real desks and rules — not a chatbot bolted on years later.
Suggest first, you decide. Quotes, notes, and checklists can be drafted from live company data; money still needs a human yes.
Zero-token option. Cloud AI is not required. Run with helpers off, or use local helpers on your machine. Opening the shop never depends on buying tokens.
Agents with a leash. The agents desk queues proposals for approval. High-risk or people-data bulk actions stay denied by default.
Performance & value. Less blank-page time for office staff; fewer brittle “export to ChatGPT and paste back” loops; audit-friendly suggestions that match your actual stock and tax settings.
Privacy stays the default.
Your customer list does not have to leave your server for helpers to be useful.
Bitcoin — optional person-to-person money beside the bank
Bitcoin is decentralized money: value can move person to person without a bank in the middle of every payment.
In steakOS it sits beside normal bank money — useful when a customer prefers coins, or when you want a rail you control.
Show Bitcoin amounts on invoices and record wallet-style payments in the books
Treasury / payments screens keep fiat and Bitcoin visible together
You keep the keys — steakOS is not a custodian that holds customer coins for you
Practice paths stay fake on purpose in demo companies; live rails are an explicit LIVE setup
We only describe payment and bookkeeping capability that exists today.
We do not advertise every instant-payment network under the sun on this page.
Value: one system of record for quotes, stock, and settlement —
bank transfer or Bitcoin — without handing the whole company to a rented payments mega-app.
Nostr — open notices without a single landlord
Nostr (say “no-ster”) is an open messaging network:
think postcards that many independent relays can carry, without one social company owning your address book.
steakOS can use it for selective notices and audit breadcrumbs — not as a replacement for your ledgers.
Your database remains the source of truth for balances and documents
Notices and trails can leave a public, portable breadcrumb when you choose that path
Fits the same sovereignty story as running the app yourself: fewer single points of failure
Pairs with AI and Bitcoin as open building blocks — helpers and money that answer to you
Performance & resilience:
when a vendor chat app changes terms or goes dark, an open notice path and a local database
keep the shop from freezing. Books stay local; the network is optional glue.
Put it together
Desks do the daily work. Integrations reduce islands. AI drafts while you approve.
Bitcoin adds an optional settlement rail. Nostr adds an optional open notice path.
