steakOS is open-source software for the messy, wonderful work of a real company — quotes, orders, stock, invoices, people, and getting paid. You install it on a computer you control. It is free to use. Forever. We will never charge a fee to run the program itself.
Picture a carpenter quoting a kitchen, a restaurant taking Friday night orders, or a farm tracking seed and stock. steakOS gives those desks a home on your machine — not a rented cloud that can raise prices or rewrite the rules overnight.
Install on a laptop, a shop PC, or a small server you own. Decentralized means the program and the books can live where you decide.
Customer lists, prices, and payroll stay in your database. Passwords and keys stay yours. That is privacy as a design choice.
Security and resilience were goals from day one — so a flaky network or a tired laptop is less likely to sink the morning rush.
AI (computer helpers that draft text and suggestions) was designed into steakOS from the start, sitting next to real desks like sales and stock — not glued on as a chatbot years later.
Here is the important part for any owner watching the bill: steakOS has a zero-token option. You are not required to send business data to a cloud AI service. You can run with helpers turned off, or use local helpers on your own machine. Cloud AI stays an explicit choice.
Suggest first. You decide. Anything that moves money still needs your approval — whether a helper drafted the invoice note or you typed it yourself.
Want another way to get paid that you control? steakOS can work with Bitcoin beside normal bank money: show a Bitcoin amount on an invoice, record a wallet payment, keep the books tidy.
We only claim what is in the product now — Bitcoin-style payments and bookkeeping rails beside bank money. We do not pitch every payment network under the sun.
Those names are only size tiers — starter, growing, and large. One size does not fit every business. Start where you are; grow when the shop gets louder.
Sales, purchasing, shop floor, delivery, after-sales, finance, people — working areas, not slide decks.
Anyone may run steakOS under the open license (Apache License 2.0). See the license page.
Training, setup, and add-ons live on steakOS.ai — people-time, never a fee to use the program.
